Author’s Summary
Sharing your truth with the world is rarely easy, especially when it contradicts history and a major world religion. But truth, much like love, can’t stay buried forever.
Redvelations is my story of remembering and reclaiming Sarah, the forgotten daughter of Jesus and Mary Magdalene, as the lost part of my own soul.
If your eyebrows have raised, I understand. Your doubts and disbelief are well-warranted, and you’re welcome to interpret my story however you wish. What’s more important than believing in my soul’s reality is believing in your soul’s reality. Above all else, this book champions the importance of recovering and embodying the lost parts of your soul so you can become fully human, wildly alive, and contribute to the well-being of this planet.
I hope my soul’s journey reminds you to trust your unique journey, cherish the entire human experience, and share your soul’s truth―no matter what others think.
This book is an unorthodox offering, a fiery reminder, and a living testament. But most of all, Redvelations is my heart smashed onto pages. Handle with care.
Publisher’s Summary
In her remarkable spiritual memoir Red Hot & Holy (Sounds True, 2013), Sera Beak told the story of how she lost and found her soul as a modern woman. With Redvelations, Sera ventures further down the soul path, revealing her unorthodox experiences of the daughter of Jesus and Mary Magdalene and the undeniable power of the soul that this forgotten figure brings to life.
By transparently sharing her soul’s journey, Sera illuminates our common struggles in an uncommon way and explores one of the most profound spiritual mysteries: Why do souls incarnate? Why does something that is perfect and whole choose to enter an imperfect world where it can be wounded, shattered, and betrayed?
As Sera reveals, our souls choose the adventure of embodiment so we may learn about the strength that can only come from vulnerability, the love that can only grow in the presence of heartbreak, and the achingly beautiful gift of being fully human.
“Heart expanding, mind opening, soul dilating . . . Redvelations spoke to me like an inspired spiritual defibrillator. It truly got me engaged to dive deeper into understanding the sacred and mysterious forces of the universe and our place in it. I have never read anything like it and found myself smiling in agreement and ready to high-five the sky.” ―Jonas Elrod, writer/director of Wake Up and In Deep Shift
“Prepare to be astonished. This is not a book; it’s a rocket ship shooting backward in time to the foot of the cross where we discover something that should have changed everything, but didn’t because it was hidden―and it was hidden because it had everything to do with the Feminine. Now it is "redvealed." Just in time. This is world-healing wisdom disguised as a rollicking good story, delivered with intelligence, lyricism, and irreverent reverence. I am still busy catching my breath and integrating what just happened to me when I read this strange and magnificent work.” ―Mirabai Starr, author of Caravan of No Despair: A Memoir of Loss and Transformation and God of Love: A Guide to the Heart of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam
“Redvelations is a stunningly original work―I really cannot think of anything I have read quite like it. Sera Beak shows extraordinary courage and love in nakedly revealing her soul’s journey through realizations that the rational mind seeks to reject and by taking an inexorable path through human suffering and into the living heart of love. By so bravely offering up this singular journey, she invites us to do the same and stay true to the unfolding of our soul, no matter how daunting and strange that journey might be. This book is a clarion call for the primacy of the soul, and is a heartfelt and much-needed response to the ever-present temptation to bypass our human experience. As you turn these pages, you will be challenged, saddened, delighted, sometimes outraged, and in the end, lovingly invited to fall fully into your own heart’s truth. This no small feat” ―Russ Hudson, coauthor of The Wisdom of the Enneagram
“This is more than a book; it is a secret map, a hidden history, a brilliant red flame in the dark of night. Sera Beak has gifted us with the story of her Soul, and when we unwrap this gift, we are blessed with a mirror to gaze upon and come to know our own souls. Light shines forth from every page like an illuminated manuscript of old. It is unlike anything you’ve ever read before. Required reading for humans. And when you come to the end, the only words that will come to your lips are ‘thank you.” ―Judah Pollack, coauthor of The Net and the Butterfly: The Art and Practice of Breakthrough Thinking
“What you're about to read in this book will change everything. Everything you've been told to be truth. I want to tell you how it will change your life, your perspective, the way you view your entire experience on earth. I want to tell you how your cells will rearrange as you're reading it because a deep healing will take place. But honestly, all you really need to know is that when you read this book, a soaked-in-red-wine and all things whole-y truth will reveal herself to you, because it's time. In the name of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and Sarah, it's time.” ―Lisa Lister, author of Love Your Lady Landscape
“This is a True Book. True, I mean, in the way a heart star pulses somewhere in deep space sending light to find us wherever we might be. When I first opened it, I felt as though someone had just handed me an undiscovered scroll from the ancient gnostics. It is a naked, honest revelation. Sera leads the way into what it means to recover the mysterious and powerful truth of our souls. This book isn’t just another book, it is blood and fire and love. I rarely hear the voice of soul in modern words. In Redvelations, soul is speaking. Amen and Hallelujah and fuck yes.” ―Jacob Nordby, author of Blessed Are the Weird: A Manifesto for Creatives
“Sera's paradigm-challenging, controversial, edgy story is likely to infuriate some and challenge even the most open-minded among you. But as you read this Redvelation of a brave, committed, very feminine woman who is retrieving, healing, and reclaiming the lost soul of Sarah, the rejected child of Jesus and Mary Magdalene, I invite you to hold open the possibility that Sera's embodiment of Sarah might actually open a portal for YOU to reclaim True Love Itself.” ―Lissa Rankin, MD, New York Times bestselling author of Mind Over Medicine, The Fear Cure, and The Anatomy of a Calling
